2009 Call for Nominations

AWARD RECIPIENT CHOSEN

The Special Interest Group on Pain in Childhood, International Association for the Study of Pain ®, is pleased to announce the recipient has been chosen for a Young Investigator Award in Pediatric Pain. The prize is awarded every three years at the International Symposium on Pediatric Pain (ISPP).

  • The successful Award recipient was notified in April, 2009.
  • The 2009 Award recipient will be honored at the International Symposium on Pediatric Pain 2010 in Acapulco, Mexico by presenting a plenary lecture and receiving a prize of $5,000 USD.

The Young Investigator Award will include the following:

  • A cash award of $ 5,000 USD will be presented to the Young Investigator Award recipient at the ISPP2010 in Acapulco, Mexico, by the SIG Council.
  • Plus Full Registration for ISPP2010 and attendance at the Conference Dinner fully paid.
  • Opportunity to present her/his work in a Special Plenary Session at the ISPP2010.
  • The $ 5,000 USD prize may be used, in part, as reimbursement for conference travel expenses, or used as the award recipient sees fit.
  • The $5,000 USD will be awarded at the conference.

Eligibility:

  • Individuals who are within ten (10) years of completion of their last academic degree.
  • The scholarly works produced by the candidate should reflect his or her independence as a scholar in the field of pain research (basic or clinical) and should also indicate that the individual has an international reputation based on this body of work.
  • Nominations are welcomed from researchers from all disciplines/specialties working in the field of pediatric pain.

Nominations should include the following:

  • A completed Application Form  
  • Letters of nomination by two individuals (e.g., from Head of Department) including statements of evidence that the candidate has achieved a level of independence as a scholar.
  • A copy of the candidate’s Curriculum Vitae

NOTE: Applications and all supporting documentation must be submitted in English.

Candidates must send an electronic copy of the application form, letters of nomination, and Curriculum Vitae. They should also indicate in the subject of the email “nomination for Young Investigator Award.”

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application. If your application is not acknowledged within 7 days please check to make sure that it was received.


Nominations must be received no later than
January 15, 2010

Late applications will not and cannot be considered.

Nominations will be reviewed by members of the SIG Award Committee who will make the final selection. The recipient of the SIG Award will be notified in January 2010. The Award will be presented to the recipient during formal sessions of the ISPP2010 in Acapulco, Mexico by the SIG Council.
